Highland, United States San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Full time

Under the direction of the Chief Investment Officer, the Investment Operations and Administration Associate manages the operations and administrative elements of the investments in the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians (SMBMI) Sovereign Wealth Fund. The work involves activities such as coordinating with the Fund custodian and Tribal Finance, facilitating documentation, reporting and capital flows on an ongoing basis and supporting preparation of reports to the Investment Board.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1. Lead processes for monthly reconciliation of investment flows and balances in coordination with custodian and Tribal Finance, supporting performance reporting and dynamic pacing model.

2. Lead processes for quarterly performance reporting including coordination with custodian and external consultant to Investment Board.

3. Lead facilitation of set up and funding of new investments including coordination of documentation with investment managers, counsel (internal and external for SMBMI, for investment manager), custodian and internal approval processes.

4. Coordinate regular processes related to funding to (including capital calls) and distributions from investment managers, coordinating with custodian, Tribal Finance and internal approval processes.

5. Lead facilitation of exit of investment managers that have been terminated or with funds in wind down including coordination with investment managers, custodian and internal approval processes.

6. Develop templates in excel that can improve and enhance Investment Staff's processes and procedures as relates to investment operations, administration and Fund management.

7. Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

Education/Experience

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required with studies in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business required. An MBA, MFE or Master's degree desired.
Minimum of three (3) years assisting in the administration of an institutional investment portfolio.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft's Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) and the ability to learn and efficiently use web-based systems (such as custodial systems) are required.
Ability to work in a time-sensitive environment, be proactive, and able to handle confidential material a must.
Strong attention to detail required.
Strong research and problem solving skills essential.
Strong critical thinking skills, a high degree of intellectual curiosity, and a desire to take on greater responsibilities and leadership are all required to be a successful member of the Investment Strategies team.
Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines for short, long and ad-hoc assignments.
Must have a commitment to exceptional quality, have the highest ethical standards, and have the vision to enhance and further develop SMBMI's portfolio.
Equivalent combination of education and progressive, relevant and direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational/experience requirements indicated above.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations Enrollment or plan to enroll in CFA or CAIA program required; CFA Charterholder or CAIA designation preferred.
At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
As a condition of employment with the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Investment Strategies Department, incumbents are required to undergo and successfully pass pre-employment and annual post-employment background investigation including, but not limited to, Live-Scan fingerprinting, drug screening and criminal history background check.
