Join our team at CDM Smith and contribute to the development and validation of critical transportation models that shape the future of transportation planning and infrastructure in Ohio.
Position Overview*This position will be expected to work as an Embedded employee in the ODOT offices 3 days per week and work virtually 2 days per week.
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Transportation Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of Cube or TransCAD, strong Scripting skills, and experience with model validation and utility checking. This role involves working on various transportation modeling projects, including statewide, regional, and project-specific models.
Key Responsibilities-Conduct validation for Ohio Statewide Model, Ohio Medium/Small modeling system, 3C Model, and other specified models.
-Review and validate scripts and model utilities, including ODOT Calculators, Stand-Alone Freight model, and SEAM/SLUM.
-Create detailed model validation reports for 2010 or 2020 for the mentioned models.
-Perform project-specific model runs to support Certified Traffic development.
-Assist in the development of Certified Traffic models.
-Provide support for ODOT-sponsored research projects.
-Review and analyze purchased 3rd party OD data sources.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Urban, Community or Regional Planning or related discipline. 3 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Proficiency in Cube, TransCAD, or both.
-Strong Scripting skills.
-Experience in transportation model validation and utility checking.
-Ability to create detailed model validation reports.
-Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
-Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
-Good communication and teamwork skills.
-Experience with ODOT Calculators, Stand-Alone Freight model, and SEAM/SLUM.
-Knowledge of Certified Traffic development.
-Experience with reviewing 3rd party OD data sources.
-Previous experience with ODOT-sponsored research projects.

Background Check and Drug Testing Information:
