Calling all OR, Pre-Op and PACU Nurses

We are looking for a competentOperating room nurse to assist surgeons during orthopaedic procedures and keeping the operating room sterile at all times.

Candidates need to possess phenomenal efficiency and attention to detail with a strong knowledge of orthopaedic operational procedures and patient safety. Being compassionate and sensitive is a prerequisite for the profession. The ideal candidate goes one step further by being a critical thinker, fast to act in emergencies.

RN OR - Monday-Friday only. No weekends or nights.

Responsibilities:

Assess patients prior to surgery (e.g. NPO status) and alleviate their concernsGather all supplies needed for the operationAssume responsibility of keeping the operating room sterilizedPosition and prepare patient on operating tablePass medical instruments or other objects to the surgeon during operationMonitor patient's vital signs to detect anomaliesEvaluate patient in postoperative phasesAdhere to safety standards andprecautionsAssume duties within or out of the sterile field as assigned

The RN OR initiates the delivery of patient care through the framework of the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, and patient outcome) in the preoperative, inter-operative, and postoperative phases of the surgical patient. Orthopaedic experience is preferred but not required for this role.

Requirements and skills

Proven experience as orthopaedic operating room nurse (circulating and scrub)Excellent knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniquesSolid understanding of patient safety and precautionsIn-depth knowledge of surgical operation proceduresOutstanding organizational abilityA great team player with excellent communication skillsCool tempered with emotional and physical staminaDiploma in nursing and a valid license

Education / Experience:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

• Current Registered Nurse License

• BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications
