The Accountant I role will serve as a key contributor to the Lifespark accounting department by supporting key accounting cycles including accounts payable, expense management, accounts receivable, cash management, and month end close. Responsibilities include full accounts payable processing from invoice entry to payment, month end accruals and amortizations, and certain other core month end close and treasury accountabilities as assigned. This position will also provide overall support to the Lifespark Accounting department via transactional and administrative responsibilities and will have opportunities to grow and develop into greater areas of responsibility within the team.

Accounts Payable and Expense Reimbursement

  • End to end ownership of accounts payable functions specific to assigned Lifespark business units, including, but not limited to:
    • Vendor onboarding
    • Invoice or claims processing
    • Allocations of expenses (coding of the invoices upfront)
    • Approval procurement
    • Vendor payment
    • W-9 and 1099 management
    • Respond to vendor inquiries timely and professionally
  • Record or import transactions accurately and timely for Lifespark's expense reimbursement platform.
  • Support Lifespark's expense reimbursement program by answering employee questions and assisting users with the expense reimbursement platform.
  • Prepare and file quarterly sales and use tax for Lifespark Holdings

General Accounting and Treasury Support

  • Prepare and post journal entries for proper revenue and expense recognition, including month end accrual and amortization entries
  • Complete monthly account reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts
  • Maintain daily deposit transaction file and facilitate weekly deposits
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and schedules for all Lifespark bank accounts
  • Generate invoices for Lifespark services and reimbursements as assigned

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify and recommend process improvements and cost savings opportunities
  • Assist with incoming accounting inquiries (Accounting telephone line and email inbox)
  • Communicate policies, procedures, errors and issues with appropriate team members and departments as applicable.
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively and express ideas clearly
  • Demonstrate initiative to meet the needs of the department by assisting coworkers when workload permits
  • Other ad hoc requests as needed

Qualifications

Experience & Education

  • Minimum of 2 years in accounting or related field
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Understanding of proper period recognition including accrual management and amortization of prepaid expenses
  • Experience with journal entry preparation and posting
  • Previous ERP systems experience a plus

  • Proficiency in software tools including financial systems and Microsoft Excel
