Greenhouse Technician

Essential Job Functions:

• Work within greenhouse to assist team members with research focused horticulture activities
• Assist multi-crop programs in DNA/RNA sampling, ratings, notes, seeding and transplanting
• Interact and work with plant breeders
• Maintain phytosanitary standards and work with the team to upkeep IPM
• Must be flexible with daily work assignments and schedule.
• Assist with disease and insect resistance breeding methodical.
• Record and document information as well as update databases
• Prepare potting media in trays and/or pots to perpare for planting or transplanting
• Complete daily plant care activities including: water checks, pest scouting and pruning
• Complete seasonal activities including: emasculations, pollinations, detassling, shoot bagging, harvest and processing of seed
• Clean work areas and greenhouse tools and contribute to a tidy work place
• Communicate and cooperate with all team members in all project areas
• Follow and maintain all regulatory requirements
• Work in the field if needed during peak summer months

• Highly organized with attention to detail
• Ability to handle greenhouse temperature
