As a Heavy Civil Superintendent, you will serve as the on-site leader and primary point of contact for all activities related to heavy civil construction projects, ensuring that they are completed safely, on time, and within budget. You will lead a team of construction professionals, subcontractors, and vendors to oversee project execution from initiation to completion, to make certain that projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You will collaborate closely with project stakeholders, manage resources effectively, and uphold company policies and procedures throughout the construction process.

Key responsibilities of the Superintendent:

  • Manage and supervise all on-site construction activities for heavy civil projects, including earthwork, grading, paving, utilities, and infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to develop and implement project schedules, sequencing, and logistics plans.
  • Monitor project progress, productivity, and quality to ensure adherence to contract specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits to identify potential hazards, enforce safety protocols, and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Resolve on-site challenges, conflicts, and delays in a timely and effective manner.
  • Communicate project goals, expectations, and updates to the project team, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Manage project budgets, resources, and materials efficiently, optimizing productivity and minimizing waste.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to construction crews, fostering a positive and productive work culture.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards, promoting continuous improvement and best practices.

Qualifications and experience of the Superintendent:

  • minimum 3 years of experience in heavy civil construction with a strong background in field operations, and leadership roles.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, techniques, and equipment used in heavy civil projects.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Familiarity with construction safety regulations and best practices.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred, but not required.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
