Mass General Hospital Careers – Clinical Research Assistant

The clinical research assistant (CRA) will report to and assist the co-directors of the MGH Myhre Syndrome Clinic and the MGH Klinefelter Syndrome Clinic as they conduct and expand research efforts.The position performs both a research and an administrative support role with responsibilities that include study subject recruitment, data entry, helping patients access medical appointments and additional resources, developing and maintaining clinic informational materials, and assisting in organization of patient educational events.Attend clinic meetings and may attend patient support groups and professional meetings.May provide clerical support to co-directors in the preparation of abstracts and manuscripts.
[ads1]Job Responsibilities:
- Abstract patient information from the Epic electronic medical record.
- With training and proficiency, enter data into REDCap databases.
- Using the data which has been entered into REDcap, perform simple analyses; respond to basic queries about the number of patients and demographics
- Assist the P.I. with recruiting patients for research studies, e.g. organizing a phone call, or clinic encounter.
- Obtain patient study data from medical records, physicians, etc.
- Conduct literature searches occasionally.
- Participate in the programs offered by the hospital to orient research assistants, and to learn various skills.
- Assist the P.I. in writing abstracts and manuscripts, e.g., perform basic data analysis, obtain references
- Assist the P.I. in maintaining the Myhre and KS websites and clinic education materials, e.g. prepare new copy, and forward to the webmaster for uploading
- Good written communication skills are essential
- Able to assist the P.I. in writing protocols and maintaining their timely reviews.
- Must be comfortable working with people and families with special physical and functional needs.
- Ability to follow directions and work as an integrated team member
- Familiarity with an Institutional Review Board (IRB).
- Computer literacy: PC based program. Need to have excellent skills with Microsoft Office products. Training in RED Cap will be provided.
- Careful attention to detail and good organizational skills are essential
- Good verbal communication skills in person and on the phone (with peers and patients)
