Job Summary

The Mechanical Design Engineer is a member of the Perry Design Engineering Section. The goal of the section is to produce high-quality technical products, that serve to improve the overall safety, reliability and efficiency of the operating nuclear power plant.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing modifications and maintaining mechanical calculations up to date.
  • Assisting in the development of solutions to engineering technical issues in support of plant operation and maintenance
  • Providing technical expertise in both long-term equipment reliability and improvement initiatives, as well as provide day-to-day technical support to the sites as needed.
  • Developing solutions to complex problems, assisting in both long-term and short-term strategies.
  • Develop timely solutions to engineering technical issues in support of plant operation and maintenance consistent with design requirements.
  • Ensuring changes to the design requirements are identified, documented, controlled, evaluated, and approved.
  • Supporting problem identification and resolution using the Corrective Action Program.
  • Managing and completing assigned activities to support timely implementation for required plant operations.
  • Maintaining the plant design and licensing basis complying with industry standards and regulations.
  • Preparing technical reports and presentations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution required (Mechanical Engineering preferred)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and analytical ability
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills, with the ability to make formal technical presentations
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with all levels of employees
  • Skilled to deliver quality and accurate work within established deadline
  • Willingness to work extended hours, shift schedules and perform on-call duties when necessary
  • Must reside within site-specific ERO response time

**Additional experience (nuclear preferred) and education will be considered when deciding job grade and compensation**

  • Mechanical power plant facilities and / or design experience preferred
  • Prior professional-level engineering experience is preferred
