Our client, a global content delivery network, is actively looking for a Datacenter Technician to join their team in Edison, NJ This person will be required to work out of several datacenters in the area (both Edison & Piscataway) so reliable transportation is required.

***This is a 1 year initial contract with the opportunity to extend or convert***

This Datacenter Technician will partner with Network Infrastructure Engineers and perform server deployment and maintenance in the company's datacenters. Deployment and maintenance consists of installing servers and switches in racks; unracking servers and racking replacement; Ethernet, fiber and power cable wiring; replacing disk drives and memory; and diagnosing simple hardware issues. A typical day to day will involve remotely diagnosing hardware problems, facilitating server repairs, and managing the company's hardware assets

Responsibilities

• Physical racking of equipment (rack prep, rack and stack, switches/routers, etc)
• Run fiber, power and Ethernet cabling
• Replace disk drives and memory
• Diagnose simple hardware issues
• Box/unbox equipment including breakdown/trash
• Organize packages coming in/out of the datacenter
• Locate and process Overdue RMAs
• Conduct fiber work (scope, light meter, cleaning)
  Desired Skills & Experience
  • Must have prior experience working in a datacenter environment, ideally 12-18 months of professional experience in this space
  • Ability to lift 50-70 pounds and the ability to unbox and move equipment
  • Must have a laptop, cell phone, driver's license, and a basic set of hand tools that can be used for this position
  • Must have reliable transportation
