Nicklaus Children's Hospital Heart Institute is a respected center of excellence committed to delivering top-notch cardiac care to pediatric patients. With state-of-the-art facilities and a team of experts from various disciplines, we provide comprehensive, compassionate, and innovative care to children with congenital and acquired heart conditions. Our services include managing patients in need of complicated congenital heart surgery, interventional catheterization, and invasive electrophysiology.
Our cardiac surgical program is internationally recognized for its transparency and is the pioneer in offering real-time outcomes reporting. Housed within our Advanced Pediatric Care Pavilion is a 34-bed cardiac inpatient unit with a model that allows all rooms to cater to critically ill patients. Nicklaus Children's Hospital is affiliated with the Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and guidance for the Cardiology Division and Heart Institute
- Supervise the clinical, research, and educational activities of the Cardiology Division
- Collaborate with diverse teams to develop innovative approaches to pediatric cardiac care
- Cultivate a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the Heart Institute
- Devise and execute strategic initiatives to improve patient outcomes, care quality, and patient experience
- Mentor and nurture the professional growth of faculty, staff, and trainees
- Enhance community outreach and advocacy efforts
- Facilitate the recruitment and retention of top-tier faculty and trainees to drive academic progress
- Collaborate with the Heart Institute Administrator to plan, assess, and manage annual budgets
- Foster a positive workplace environment that attracts, retains, and motivates staff
Qualifications and Experience
The role of Heart Institute Co-Director and Chief of Pediatric Cardiology is a key leadership position in our organization. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of clinical excellence and leadership in the field. Additionally, this leader should demonstrate unwavering integrity, adhere to ethical standards, and possess strong administrative and managerial abilities.
Desired Qualifications and Attributes:
- MD/DO degree or equivalent from an accredited school of medicine with a minimum of 10 years post-pediatric residency and fellowship in cardiology
- Unrestricted medical license and American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) board certification in pediatric cardiology
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor information to different audiences
- Collegial and highly collaborative with a history of fostering a positive workplace environment that encourages teamwork and inclusivity
