About the role

As a Lead Blockchain Engineer at AiB, you will play a key role in guiding our journey toward creating blockchains and leading technical direction. You will be responsible for architecting, implementing, and maintaining robust and scalable blockchain systems, protocols, and consensus mechanisms.

Responsibilities

  • Create clean, sustainable, and maintainable code in Go. Write code that humans can understand and design robust and easy-to-use APIs.
  • Drive the project's technical direction, establish roadmaps, communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, and ensure alignment with project goals while taking a proactive approach.
  • Contribute to the architecture and implementation of decentralized solutions built on top of Tendermint and Cosmos SDK.
  • Architect and develop a Layer 0 blockchain protocol, including the implementation of custom logic and modifications in the consensus layer.
  • ⁠Implement and optimize consensus algorithms, transaction processing, and network protocols.
  • Taking full responsibility for code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality software delivery.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members.
  • ⁠Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in blockchain technology and distributed systems.

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of software development experience.
  • 5+ years of professional experience using Go. Possess a deep understanding of the language, its ecosystem, tools, libraries, and best practices. Strong knowledge of software architecture, data structures, code organization, and clean code principles.
  • Strong experience with blockchains and algorithms, including working on Layer 0 protocols.
  • Knowledge of the Tendermint consensus engine, Cosmos-SDK, and Cosmos Hub, or a clear willingness and capability to quickly pick them up.
  • Strong understanding of governance systems in decentralized environments.
  • Proven experience in architecting, developing, and deploying large-scale applications in a production environment.
  • Contributions to open-source projects, and a demonstrated ability in open-source project management.
  • Strong track record of leadership, communication, and teamwork abilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge of Git and other modern software tooling.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience as a software engineer.
  • Must be based in California or willing to relocate, or at the very least, able to travel as needed.
  • A proven track record that demonstrates your capabilities to fulfill the tasks outlined in the responsibilities section.

Nice-To-Haves

  • Initiated a significant open-source library.
  • Management skills.
  • Experience with distributed systems, microservices, and scalable backend architectures.
  • Experience with CI/CD and creating infrastructure as code.
