Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Authorized

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.

Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)

Major Duties include but not limited to:
  • Provide expert consultation and treatment to patients in the outpatient Hematology/Oncology clinic; as well as provide feedback and inpatient consultation with the other services within the Medical Center.
  • Evaluate, triage, and prioritize requests from Primary Care providers and others for outpatient Hematology/Oncology subspecialty consultations
  • Obtain medical histories, conduct physical examinations, order and evaluate appropriate laboratory testing, and plan and prescribe treatment for patients.
  • Coordinate medical management and care with Primary Care providers and other medical personnel in a multidisciplinary health care delivery system.
  • Perform administrative tasks as assigned, such as peer reviews and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE). Provide Hematology/Oncology on-call services as assigned.
  • Physician will be required to attend staff meetings, serve on Cancer Committee and Tumor Board, be comfortable interacting with multidisciplinary teams, workgroups, and peer reviews as requested. Complete CME, VA Training, HIPAA, Security training, and other mandatory trainings.
  • In additional to the duties listed above the Physician will provide clinical care within the Hematology/Oncology privileges.
  • Ability to perform initial histories and physical examinations on outpatients; make assessments and use appropriate diagnostic evaluations; implement timely and appropriate treatment. Incorporate and perform "Time Outs" as per VA Directive prior to any invasive procedure. Ensure consents for chemotherapy agents are up to date.
  • Provide consultations, make daily rounds and manage oncology issues of patients admitted to hospitalist service.
  • Counsel and advise patients diagnosed with malignancy.
  • Orders diagnostic studies and interprets laboratory tests, EKGs, and radiologic tests.
  • Provides ongoing outpatient care for assigned case load.
  • Prescribes and refills medications within the defined scope of practice.
  • Provides education and counseling of patients and families as well as overseeing Nurse Practitioners.
