Duties
A Float Nurse for Ambulatory Surgery and the GI Recovery area manages the patient in the preoperative, intraoperative for specialty procedures and the post-operative recovery of patient care and develops a holistic picture of patient needs.
Ambulatory Float nursing is a specialty that manages human responses to actual events surrounding preoperative, intraoperative and post-operative practice. The Float Nurse engages in ethical practice and base decisions and actions upon their commitment to patients and families.The practice of a Float Nurse is characterized by the application of relevant theories, research, and evidence-based guidelines to diagnose and treat human responses to injury and illness.
The Float Nurse is an indispensable resource for Ambulatory Surgery and GI Recovery education and knowledge.
The Float Nurse identifies outcomes from assessments and diagnoses, respects patient perspectives and values in formulating culturally appropriate outcomes in collaboration with the patient, Physician and professional team.
The Float Nurse develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain outcomes, and is able to establish priorities and continuity of care within the plan.
The Float Nurse employs strategies to promote and maintain a safe environment and intervenes to prevent and minimize complications.Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards
Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Insurance:
Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
Work Schedule:
