Job Description:

The Hitachi Energy factory in Bland, VA has an immediate opening for experienced Site Engineering Manager. The focus of this position will be the direct, and active management of a muti-disciplined design team.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to deploy your technical expertise and leadership to engage and advance product and process improvement for all products within the site's business scope. This position will include Global Product Group collaboration to define and implement best design practices and common tools. You will have further opportunities to work directly with local growth, product development and production teams to penetrate new markets with highly optimized customer solutions.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Drive the performance of the engineering function to ensure that all engineering activities meet the required safety, integrity, financial and contractual requirements. This will include initiating and driving continuous improvement activities across the function.
  • Build effective team environments where individuals work collaboratively to achieve a well-defined strategy.
  • Leverage a client-driven mentality that fosters strong customer relationships and long-term commitments.
  • Use problem solving tools such as Root Cause Countermeasures, A3s, 8Ds, or equivalent.
  • Generate weekly and monthly assessments for team financial and productivity performance tracking.
  • Elevate our engineering design team through effective hiring, talent pipeline development, skills development, training, apprenticeships, internships, etc.
  • Assist or lead cross-functional teams to accomplish clearly defined goals and objectives that directly contribute to profitable growth in the organization.
  • Create and manage implementation of long-term strategic plans which define the engineering business strategy and align resources accordingly.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and 5-10 years of experience, with additional 3-5 years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States. US Citizenship is required to have access to certain sensitive information required for normal duties.
  • Working knowledge of industry standards such as ANSI/IEEE C , C , C , C , C , C57.96, C57.94, NFPA 70/National Electrical Code, UL, cUL, CSA and IEC

Preferred Qualifications

  • Six Sigma Trained/Certified and Lean Manufacturing training and implementation experience.
  • Experience with transformer design.
  • Experience with Design and Process FMEA's.
  • Experience working in multinational teams.
  • Experience with mechanical and/or electrical simulations.
  • Professional Engineer.
