The SEI Deputy Lead is responsible for assisting and supporting the SEI lead in the technical and management efforts of directing and controlling the integrated engineering effort for the PPE.

Co-plan, manage, and direct the execution of the technical effort for the successful development and delivery of the PPE spacecraft.

Coordinate and oversee the SEI team development of the PPE engineering products and inputs to higher level products for delivery to the Gateway.

Perform insight, oversight and surveillance of systems engineering performed by the prime contractor(s) to deliver the PPE.
Maintain awareness of any issues occurring during hardware build or integration, and software build, test, and integration.

Maintain awareness of resolution of any anomalies including root cause analysis and corrective actions including contractor trades with cost, performance, and reliability of the system.

Serve as a PPE interface to Gateway and Co-Manifested Vehicle (CMV) SEI Leads, including serving as the backup PPE SEI representative for the SEI seat on the Gateway and CMV control boards.

Assume full authority for decisions in the absence of the SEI Lead including representing PPE on board as necessary.
