The Upper School is seeking candidates for a full time 7th/8th grade mathematics teacher.

Newtown Friends' Upper School (grades 6 – 8) features an engaging student-centered program of study that focuses on teaching students to be active participants in the learning process.

Applicants must have a broad background in mathematics topics from pre-algebra to algebra 1 and algebra 2. Math teaching experience (grades 6 – 8) preferred. Experience working with cooperative and differentiated instruction is desired. Candidates would also serve as an advisor to a group of 10-12 middle school students.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Math or an Education degree with a Mathematics focus. An advanced degree is strongly desired.

The successful candidate will have excellent rapport with and knowledge of middle school students (ages 10 – 14) and enjoy working with them in a variety of school activities in addition to classroom teaching.

A background or experience in an advisory program is desired.

They should have an interest in supporting students' development of the necessary academic, social, and attitudinal skills to achieve 21st-Century leadership.

Candidates should be ready to engage in helping the school to achieve its goal of being an anti-racist institution with broad DEIJB goals.

Familiarity with Quaker education and the ability to coach is a plus.
