Join Us as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer Specializing in Recommendations

Philo's dynamic recommendation system is crafted to enhance user engagement and satisfaction by providing tailored content suggestions tailored to individual preferences and viewing patterns. We are on the lookout for a skilled Machine Learning Engineer to spearhead the evolution of our recommendation system, a key component in delivering personalized content discovery to our vast user base. As an integral part of our expanding team, you will serve as a technical authority responsible for the entire recommendation system stack, as well as an expert in implementing this system to enhance user engagement. Collaboration with data science, product, infrastructure, and backend engineering teams will be essential to creating delightful user experiences that drive customer acquisition and loyalty.
Role Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualize ML solutions for user challenges prioritized by the team, evaluating different approaches based on feasibility and pragmatism, taking into account project timelines and available resources.
  • Devise, implement, and deploy ML models to enhance the accuracy and relevance of our recommendations.
  • Explore integration techniques for the recommendation system to maximize its impact within the product.
  • Execute comprehensive A/B tests and ML experiments to assess model performance and iterate quickly based on feedback.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams, including data science, backend engineering, and product management, to seamlessly integrate ML models into the production environment.
  • Ensure the scalability and efficacy of our ML systems by collaborating closely with infrastructure teams to leverage cloud technologies efficiently.
  • Contribute to the strategic roadmap for recommendations, aligning engineering efforts with business goals and user requirements.
Required Qualifications:
  • Over 8 years of experience in backend engineering and/or data science, with a focus of 4+ years on machine learning. A background in recommendation systems is highly advantageous.
  • Proficient in Python coding, along with expertise in utilizing ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to translate intricate technical challenges into practical business solutions.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading projects and delivering impactful machine learning solutions.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and providing thorough documentation to facilitate team learning and progress.
Preferred Expertise:
  • Experience with Amazon SageMaker or similar MLOps platforms.

Compensation Package: Offering an annual salary ranging from $200K - $240K based on experience and location, including company stock options and health benefits.
