Senior EI&C Engineer

The Senior E/I&C Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability and cost-effectiveness of electrical assets, with a focus on enhancing safe and efficient plant operations. This role identifies and capitalizes on opportunities to improve plant reliability, acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in reliability strategy. Key areas of responsibility include developing and implementing long- and short-term reliability objectives, overseeing electrical integrity management, and guiding predictive and preventive maintenance plans.
In this role, the Senior E/I&C Engineer will provide both operational and strategic direction for all control systems, contributing to the development and execution of production process improvements. This position involves mentoring and leading a team to support the overall development of policies, plans, budgets, and initiatives related to Health, Safety, Security & Environmental matters, as well as the organizational and cultural growth of the Engineering Department.

- Develop and implement reliability procedures for plant equipment, prioritizing employee safety and adhering to industry best practices.
- Lead discussions on prioritizing plant equipment repairs to align with site objectives and goals.
- Provide technical support for various projects, including large-scale expansions, capital investments, and modifications.
- Ensure capital and operational projects are executed safely, within budget, on time, and in compliance with procurement policies and procedures.
- Offer engineering and technical support to Maintenance, Operations, Inspection, Process, and Project teams regarding equipment selection, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and long-term reliability.
- Develop control logic for Distribution Control Systems (DCS) and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
- Perform PID loop tuning and modify control algorithms based on process conditions.
- Develop new basic and advanced process control schemes to support operations, production, and product quality.
- Assist operations and engineering teams with troubleshooting control logic issues.
- Provide OT (Operational Technology) technical support to the plant team.
- Review, recommend, and implement approved mitigation measures for IT/OT exposure and vulnerabilities.
- Lead efforts to continuously improve equipment reliability through effective strategies, such as risk-based maintenance, risk assessment, root cause analysis, and spare parts reviews.
- Participate in and occasionally lead pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, including witnessing equipment installations.
- Provide input on the final check-out of new installations, including factory and site acceptance testing to ensure adherence to specifications.
- Lead RCA/RCFA investigations into premature equipment failures as needed.
- Collaborate with equipment vendors and repair shops to resolve technical issues or complex equipment repairs.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for electrical and instrumentation equipment.
- Work with the maintenance team to develop contacts and relationships with turnaround contractors and repair facilities.
- Review and provide recommendations on operation procedures related to proper startup and shutdown of equipment.
- Review and recommend operational parameters for equipment.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers.
- Follow all relevant company policies and procedures.

- Maintain a professional image with clients and vendors, upholding the company’s positive reputation.
- Support other departments and administrative personnel as needed.

Qualifications:
Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations:
- None required.
Education, Experience, and/or Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in the chemical or petrochemical industry required.
- Relevant experience with 69 kV, 13.8 kV, 4160-volt, and 480-volt transmission, switching, and control systems.
- Working knowledge of industry codes and standards (IEC, NFPA, ANSI, IEEE, NEMA, etc.) required.
- Experience in testing and commissioning electrical power equipment (including type testing, field testing, and factory testing) preferred.
- Experience with Instrumentation and DCS controls preferred.
- Familiarity with predictive maintenance tools preferred.
- Experience in training and mentoring technicians preferred.
