MacOS Engineer

Dallas, TX

Full time role


Mac Engineer plays a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing our macOS environment. Responsibilities will span across scripting, device management, and using tools like Jamf, and ensuring security and efficiency of our Mac Systems.


Important Notes on Work Location:

Job duties require physical access to the clients test lab in Dallas, TX. Some other examples of this need include:

  • out new Hardware being evaluated for use.
  • new pre-released peripheral options which require you to stay in a secure lab environment.
  • for this job also must be located nearby the Clients Office / Hub
  • for testing and validating network connectivity of physical workstations
  • Automated Device enrollment works within Client's offices.
  • to go onsite to meet with End-users to complete tasks which cannot be completed remotely. (Ex: entering in a Recovery console password, aid with Digital forensics team)
  • that we are onsite for helping new interns during the summer onboarding process.
  • to use the client’s physical workstation load to participate and recover environments for Disaster Recovery Exercises and actual Disaster events.


Additional Roles:


Macintosh Workstation stewardship and Workstation Type Management:

Workstation stewards approve software requests, access requests, workstation orders, act as support for Mac users for questions they may have when it comes to software and hardware order process, as well as integration of other applications into the Macintosh environment. They also manage the Macintosh workstation type.


Macintosh Automated Device Enrollment Base Load:

Maintains the Apple workstation base, making changes to packages and versions of existing products in the load.


Responsibilities of macOS Engineer

  • and Automation
  • and implement advanced scripts (python / bash) to automate tasks and streamline Mac System Processes.
  • with cross-functional teams to integrate automation solutions that enhance overall efficiency and user experience.
  • Management
  • your expertise in Jamf Pro to deploy, configure, and manage Mac devices within the organization.
  • updated on the latest Jamf and Apple features and best practices to optimize device management processes.
  • and Networking
  • with security teams to Implement and maintain security measures to safeguard the integrity and confidentiality of Mac systems.
  • and maintain the deployment of network configurations to ensure optimal performance, connectivity, and user experience.
  • Support
  • technical support to end-users, addressing Mac-related issues promptly and effectively.
  • with other levels of the team to develop user-friendly guides, workflows, and documentation.
  • Optimization
  • abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to implement strategies for efficient Mac system management in a Windows dominated environment.
  • toward continuous improvement, identifying and implementing optimizations for better performance and user experience

Collaboration

  • with IT (Information Technology) and other departments to understand their needs and tailor Mac solutions to meet specific requirements.
  • in cross-functional projects that involve Mac System integration and collaboration with diverse technologies
  • Authentication and identity Management
  • in enhancing our existing identity management framework by leveraging Azure AD and spearhead advancements in user authentication, including the implementation and improvements of our existing single sign-on solutions.


Qualifications

  • years of proven experience as a Mac Engineer with expertise on scripting (bash / python), Jamf, and system optimization.
  • understanding of macOS, certificates, networking, and security principles.
  • troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently and in group settings.
  • to identify problems that are not always noticed and take the initiative to dive into the issue and produce resolutions.
  • communication and collaboration skills in a team-oriented environment.
  • with integrating Mac systems with Azure Active Directory for identity and Access management.
  • of working with products like Microsoft Defender, Jamf Protect, Jamf Connect, O365 suite, Zscaler, Cisco Secure, Citrix Workspace, and Jamf ADCS (Active Directory Certificate Service).
  • knowledge of PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) certificates and 802.1x authentication protocols. Utilize this knowledge to configure and manage secure network connections and authentication mechanisms for macOS devices.
  • in hardware procurement and hardware lifecycle management.
  • As a Mac Engineer, you will contribute to the robustness and efficiency of our Mac infrastructure, ensuring a secure and seamless experience for all users within the organization.
