Job Overview

As a Senior Quality Inspector at AEVEX Aerospace, you are responsible for approving articles for Return to Service (RTS) and performing FAA parts conformity. You will use your expertise to mentor, train and audit our inspectors on inspection methods, techniques, aids, equipment and best practices.


Essential Functions

  • Performs FAA parts conformity through proper inspection methods and documentation procedures in 14 CFR Part 21 environment.
  • Approves articles for Return to Service (RTS).
  • Reads and interprets aircraft drawings, inspection manuals, blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine inspection method and procedures, allowable tolerances and geometric dimensioning.
  • Verifies configuration of component parts and location of fastener holes, using check fixtures and measuring instruments.
  • Performs preliminary, hidden-damage, in-process and final inspections. Ensures all records are documented.
  • Inspects welding, heat treating, bonding, brazing, and machined parts for conformance to specifications.
  • Reviews and approves repair drawings. Accepts or rejects parts and records inspection results.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed inspection records, including measurements, findings and
  • observations. Audits all records for proper documentation.
  • Collaborates with the Quality Assurance (QA) team to ensure compliance with quality standards and procedures.
  • Discusses inspections and test results with QA Manager.
  • Mentors, trains and audits inspectors on inspection methods, techniques, practices, aids, equipment and tools.
  • Ensures all tools and equipment are in proper working order, to include current calibration.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Education / Certifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience required
  • Airframe certified under FAR Part 65
  • Full A&P Certification a plus


Experience

  • Minimum five years experience within quality or an inspection function
  • Experience with AS9100 certified Quality Management Systems
  • Experience with FAA Repair Station and Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) processes
  • Experience with 14 CFR Part 145 and Part 21 Quality Systems
