Chico, CA, United States Heritage Insurance Agency Full-time

Advisory-led work with a quality book, real autonomy, and meaningful growth upside.

Heritage Insurance Agency | Northern California | Full-Time | Local Travel Required | Competitive base salary plus commission, with a clear path to meaningful six-figure earnings

The Role

Advisory-led work with a quality book, real autonomy, and meaningful growth upside.

This role centers on a high-quality book of agribusiness and commercial accounts—farms, ranches, vineyards, orchards, dairies, hulling and processing operations, and the rural businesses that support them. Heritage is an agribusiness-focused agency, but we write commercial insurance across the rural communities we serve, and this role reflects that full scope.

Depending on your experience, the position may combine clients from an existing book with meaningful new business opportunity—backed by genuine independence and a clear path to grow within a rapidly expanding agency.

If you have strong commercial instincts—whether your background runs deep in ag, in commercial lines, or both—we'd welcome hearing from you.

Who We Are

Heritage Insurance Agency is the premier independent agency serving agribusiness and commercial clients across Northern California. We're rooted in the rural communities we serve, and our reputation rests on coverage expertise, sound judgment, and service that keeps clients with us for decades.

That reputation is industry-recognized: Heritage has been named an Insurance Journal Best Agency to Work For and was recently awarded Cover Agency of the Month by Rough Notes. We value depth of knowledge and trusted guidance over quick-turn quoting.

Who This Role Is For

You're driven, client-focused, and genuinely good at what you do—someone with the judgment to navigate complex accounts and the discipline to follow through. You bring sound decision-making under pressure and the steady, capable presence clients come to depend on.

This is not a fit for high-volume, transactional quote environments. Our work is grounded in complex risk guidance, and we're looking for advisors who find that work rewarding.

What You'll Do

  • Advise and write agribusiness and commercial accounts across Northern California—from farm and ranch operations to ag-related and rural commercial businesses
  • Conduct thorough coverage reviews that help clients make confident, informed decisions
  • Grow a profitable, well-rounded book with strong long-term retention
  • Partner with carriers to structure solutions that fit real operations—vineyards, orchards, dairies, ranches, and the businesses that support them
  • Meet clients where they work—in the field, at the operation, or at the business—when it counts

Required

  • Active P&C license
  • Experience advising on and placing commercial insurance
  • Strong communication skills and a client-first, solutions-focused mindset
  • Comfortable with local travel and in-person client meetings

Preferred

  • Agribusiness background
  • AFIS, CIC, or CISR designation (or active pursuit)
  • Experience with a CRM and organized pipeline management
  • Existing ag or community relationships across Northern California

We'll consider strong candidates who don't check every box. What matters most is the quality of your judgment, the standard you hold for clients, and an approach that puts guidance ahead of transactions.

What You'll Get

  • Competitive base salary plus commission—our advisors consistently achieve six-figure earnings, and we provide the path, the book, and the team to get there
  • Benefits package (details shared during the interview process)
  • Independence to serve clients well, backed by a team invested in your success
  • A culture built on expertise, follow-through, and doing right by clients

What Success Looks Like

  • Clients trust you and renew because you simplify decisions and follow through
  • You consistently identify coverage gaps and strengthen risk strategy through thorough reviews
  • You grow a healthy book through referrals, community presence, and dependable service

How to Apply

Resume + short cover letter, please. We're looking for a strong fit—share your experience, what drew you to Heritage, and what you want to build with our team. AI is fine; authenticity is essential.
