JANUS et Cie is seeking a candidate for Production Assistant. They will be responsible for the co-leadership and direction of Cushions manufacturing for the Santa Fe Springs, CA facility. This role is responsible for the planning and execution of the production processes, the support of the development and implementation of methods of manufacturing, procedures and processes that result in improved safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee engagement.

Hourly Range: $26.50-$31.00

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide co-supervision which promotes and maintains a productive and harmonious work environment. This includes ensuring production goals are met in a safe manner with high quality and optimized costs.
  • Plan production tasks and schedules according to customer orders of cushions, furniture covers, canopies and decorative pillows. Analyze back orders, current orders, upcoming orders, repairs and warranty claims to prioritize, plan and schedule the production operations.
  • Coordinate and report day to day activities, develop and review material and manpower plans with the Production Manager for timely execution of production orders.
  • Monitor the execution of the production schedule and resolve any potential issues in a timely fashion.
  • Investigate production problems, analyze root causes, and provide solutions.
  • Administer repair and warranty claims and respond to product issues, including possible replacement, all in a timely manner.
  • Escalate complex issues to the Production Manager, Product Manager or Director.
  • Communicate production statuses of Internal and External workroom items to Client Services on a regular basis.
  • Ensure standards for employee performance and product quality are maintained and cost-effective procedures and processes are used to maximize production.
  • Act as co-pilot for team members in Operational Excellence work, helping them to understand and utilize change management tools.
  • Ensure maintenance schedules are adhered to for all fixed assets.
  • Assist with Inventory management processes to avoid shortages and excesses.
  • Co-pilot resolution of all employee, safety, quality, production, and inventory issues.
  • Ensure all employees follow established safety rules and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform back up duties as required for COM Administrator, Purchasing and Production Scheduler.

Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years’ experience in supervisory role in Textile, Upholstery, or Cut and Sew industries
  • Must be fluent in English and Spanish.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Extensive experience in scheduling and shop floor planning.
  • Strong ability to organize and prioritize actions effectively and perform multiple tasks.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate, resolve conflicts, and lead teams.
  • Demonstrates integrity, flexibility, sound judgment and strong analytical skills.
  • Proficient with CAD and ERP Systems
  • Training / certification and experience in continuous improvement methods (lean, six sigma, Kaizen, etc).
