Spencer Ogden is supporting one of our utility clients in their search for a Project Manager to assist on an ongoing portfolio of capital/O&M renewables projects, mainly in solar.
They are looking for someone to sit in their Richmond, VA office. Non-local candidates will be considered, and they are offering full GSA per diem for those who need to travel.
This will start as a 14-month contract, with the possibility of extension.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure all projects prioritize safety and environmental compliance for all personnel involved.
- Manage or support specific phases of major projects, including project development, site development, permitting (air, water, state, local), scope development, major contract negotiations (equipment, engineering, EPC), engineering, procurement, construction contracts, construction activities, commissioning, and transition to operation.
- Oversee all phases of smaller improvement projects, including permitting, contract negotiations, engineering contracts, construction contracts, construction activities, and commissioning.
- Develop and manage the overall project budget and schedule for both major and smaller projects.
- Manage the approved project financial plan and cost forecast to meet financial goals.
- Handle contracts and commercial aspects of projects with Dominion’s suppliers and contractors.
- Utilize the PM Tollgate process to manage various project stages.
- Manage all project-related administrative requirements as per PM process.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Proven knowledge and experience in project management, relevant technologies, and leadership within assigned project areas.
- Working knowledge of power generation and pollution control equipment, and a general understanding of construction and operational field work practices, equipment utilization, and work component scheduling.
- Familiarity with OSHA scaffolding requirements and industry safety practices.
- Strong team-building skills and the ability to effectively lead teams to achieve project goals and milestones.
- Demonstrated skill in planning, organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work to meet construction deadlines.
- Capability in handling multiple distinct projects simultaneously.
- Effective negotiation skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation capabilities.
- Ability to develop, manage, and monitor project performance to ensure it meets requirements and schedules.
- Ability to coordinate the resolution of technical problems and implement changes.
- Ability to work and build rapport with all levels of management and staff.
- Ability to represent the project and company in public forums.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to compare construction specifications and material requirements to physical work products.
- Ability to read and interpret manuals, technical instructions, and drawings, and prepare brief written reports accurately.
- Proficiency in using personal computers and Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- BS degree in Engineering, Business, or Construction Management preferred.
- 7+ years of industry experience in construction, engineering, and/or management, with at least 3 years of demonstrated project management experience.
