Required Skills:

Minimum 10-15 years of experience including critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Applicant must be a licensed architect who is precise, thoughtful, hard-working and has previous

office, project and team leadership experience. Comprehensive understanding of the MA

Building Code, IEBC, IBC, IECC and 521 CMR a must.

Capable of writing proposals for architectural services, establishing project budgets, monitoring

work flow vs. budgeted time, and assisting with invoice preparation. Familiarity with drafting

and editing AIA Standard Contract documents is required.

Must be a strong creative designer, range of creativity to extend from “historic” to “modern”.

Capable of writing/preparing specifications, reviewing and processing shop drawings.

Able to assume project leadership, including design, client communication, construction

drawings, bidding, contracting, and manage and monitor key staff along with numerous projects.

Manage production resources effectively and maintain the prescribed billable hour level on all

projects. This includes the ability to communicate any deviation from these standards to the

Principal, while working to navigate and problem solve solutions/adjustments to these challenges

as they may arise throughout the project process.

Capable of demonstrating a high degree of time management skills, and the wherewithal to

streamline processes and procedures in order to increase quality and efficiency within a team and

small office environment.

Ability to mentor colleagues, regularly acting as trainer and educator in both personal growth

and communication skills when dealing with clients, vendors and sub-contractors. This includes

teaching proper use of office standard forms and conventions, job meeting notes, time tracking

software, project transmittals, etc.

Proficient in preparing complete, detailed construction documents for both renovation & new

construction. Ability to regularly red-line review sets of team’s deliverables for accuracy,

efficiency and thoroughness as a lead in quality control systems within the office and team.

Computer literate/ able to understand & organize computer file directories; and navigate office

networks.

Be familiar with construction systems; masonry, wood, light gauge metal stud, steel; and energy

efficient envelope detailing.

Communicate and coordinate with engineering consultants, associates, clients and contractors.

Minimum Skills:

Design

• Licensed Architect.
• Design capable for new and renovations, Residential (single and multi-family),
• commercial, historic, municipal, etc.

Management

• Client Representation, preparing proposals, communicating and managing clients.
• Permitting: Present projects in a public hearing setting, i.e. Site Plan Review, ZBA, etc.
• AIA Contracting
• HR: Assist in office standards, benefit packages, etc.

Technology

• AutoCAD, BricsCAD, BIM
• Understand layer standards; drawing & x-ref management.
• Drawing/sheet set up.
• Manage Line weights/Pen/Plot Styles.
• Microsoft office suite (Word/Excel/Publisher/PowerPoint).
• Photoshop, Revit & Rhino experience a plus
