Mechanical Design Engineer
Summary:
The Design Engineer is the key driver of innovation and design excellence during the product development process. He/she will work with cross functional teams to develop technologies for scientific instruments used in a wide range of laboratory environments. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Duties
· The Design Engineer is primarily responsible for the physical design of instruments, including electro-mechanics, fluidics, optics and the physical user-interface. He/she will also integrate the efforts of the electronics and software engineers in the product development team.
· Develop prototypes for testing and conduct testing to identify design issues or improvements.
· Document designs including 3D Models, Drawings and Assembly Procedures
· Customer integration, Satisfaction, and Service
· New Product Development
· Identify & Troubleshoot of products through entire product life cycle.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree: Mechanical Engineering or related technical field (physics, applied math, electrical engineering, chemistry)
· 5-8 Years as a mechanical engineer (or related) involved in the design of innovative electro-mechanical systems.
· Must have significant experience working in a multi-disciplinary project team, with a proven record of design innovation.
· Familiarity with 3-D CAD modeling is required; Creo Parametric experience is a plus.
Other Skills:
· He/she will have very strong technical and analytical skills, coupled with an inventive, resourceful attitude.
· Communication, Interface w/ others & Initiative are necessities for this role.
· Systems-level thinker, as well as an acutely detail-oriented, organized engineer.
· He/she will be comfortable leading teams in the development of complex systems with a keen eye for design simplicity, manufacturability and serviceability.
