Role: MongoDB Admin

Location: Plano TX (day one onsite, 5 days onsite in a week)

Job Summary:

The Level 2 MongoDB Administrator is a senior-level position responsible for production support, and management of databases. This role involves overseeing the database infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. The Level 2 DBA provides technical expertise, leads database projects, and collaborates with other IT teams to deliver robust and scalable database services.

Key Responsibilities:

Database Management:

• Possess in-depth knowledge of MogoDB architecture, installation, and administration.
• Manage MogoDB, including installation, configuration, and performance tuning.
• Database High Availability and Disaster Recovery:
• Develop and test disaster recovery strategies to ensure data availability and business continuity.
• Database Security:
• Enforce security measures, access controls, and encryption to protect sensitive data.
• Perform periodic security audits and vulnerability assessments.
• Database Performance Tuning:
• Identify and resolve complex performance bottlenecks, slow queries, and resource contention issues in MongoDB.
• Database Backup and Recovery:
• Develop and maintain comprehensive backup and recovery strategies for MongoDb
• Perform regular backups and test recovery procedures to ensure data recoverability.
• Database Monitoring and Alerts:
• Set up proactive monitoring and alerting for database health and performance issues.
• Respond to alerts and incidents promptly to minimize service disruptions.

Database Patching and Upgrades:

Database Automation and Scripting:

• Develop and maintain automation scripts and workflows to streamline routine database management tasks.
• Database Documentation:
• Create and maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
• Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:
• Lead efforts to diagnose and resolve complex database-related issues.
• Collaborate with Level 1 and Level 2 support and other teams to address escalated incidents.
• Database Project Management:
• Lead database-related projects, such as database migrations, consolidations, and performance enhancements.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Several years of proven experience as a Level Mongo Database Administrator.
• In-depth understanding of MongoDb architecture, configuration, and performance tuning.
• Strong proficiency in MongoDb architecture, installation, configuration, and administration.
• Familiarity with database security, backup, and recovery best practices.
• Experience with database clustering and load balancing technologies is advantageous.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to diagnose and resolve complex database issues.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities to guide junior team members and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
