Summary/Objective:


As a key member of the Data and Business Intelligence team, the Business Intelligence Specialist empowers the organization through data-driven insights and analytics. The role is responsible for developing and supporting Power BI dashboards, Jet Reports, and conducting ad-hoc data analysis to fulfill business needs. The BI Specialist also assists the Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence Developer with building, maintaining, and optimizing ETL processes, leveraging Jet Data Manager, SQL Server, and Azure Analysis Services to enhance the data warehouse environment. Reporting directly to the Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence Developer, this role is instrumental in transforming raw data into actionable intelligence for strategic decision-making.



Responsibilities:


  • Dashboard and Report Development: Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and Jet Reports to provide visibility into key performance indicators, metrics, and trends. Ensure dashboards meet stakeholder requirements and provide real-time insights.
  • Data Analysis: Conduct ad-hoc data analysis as requested by various departments to support business operations, identify trends, and inform decision-making.
  • Data Integration and ETL Support: Assist in developing and managing ETL processes to consolidate and organize data from multiple sources into the data warehouse, using Jet Data Manager, SQL Server, and Azure Analysis Services.
  • User Support and Training: Support end-users in understanding and utilizing BI tools, dashboards, and reports. Provide training as necessary to enhance data literacy across the organization.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Monitor data integrity and accuracy within dashboards, reports, and data warehouse environments. Collaborate with the BI Developer to troubleshoot data discrepancies and ensure reliable data sources.
  • Documentation and Standards: Create and maintain detailed documentation for dashboards, reports, data models, and ETL processes. Follow best practices and company standards to ensure high-quality, reusable, and scalable BI solutions.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand business needs, develop appropriate reporting solutions, and communicate complex technical concepts in a clear, business-oriented manner.
  • Data Security and Compliance: Adhere to data security protocols, ensuring that BI solutions are compliant with company standards and safeguard sensitive information.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field; relevant certifications or equivalent work experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in a BI or data analysis role, with a focus on dashboard/report development and data integration.


Technical Skills:


  • Proficiency in Power BI for creating dashboards and data visualizations, including DAX for advanced calculations.
  • Strong skills in SQL for data querying, manipulation, and optimization within SQL Server.
  • Knowledge of Azure Analysis Services supporting analytical needs.
  • Familiarity with data governance and best practices in data security, accuracy, and compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience with ETL development and data warehousing concepts, including data modeling and data transformations.
  • Experience with Jet Reports for financial and operational reporting, with a focus on customization and optimization.
  • Familiarity with Jet Data Manager for ETL and data integration processes.
  • Microsoft certifications related to Power BI, SQL Server, or Azure.
  • Experience with additional BI tools or ETL solutions.
  • Familiarity with data visualization best practices and BI solution design.
