Type: 12-month Contract

Location: Minneapolis, MN (30% travel to sites in Midwest) Remote position

Additional Comp: Travel Expenses (Flight, Rental car, Hotel, Meals-while traveling)


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 years of Project Management experience
  • 5 Years of Solar/Bess Experience
  • Manage full stack projects on Utility Scale Solar sites
  • Coordinate with Engineers and permitting department
  • Document, report on daily/weekly basis to senior CMs and Directors of projects
  • Must be able to travel 30% of the time
  • Must have worked with stakeholders/landowners

Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning and Scheduling:
  • Scope Definition: Establishing the scope of the solar or BESS project, including timelines, deliverables, and key milestones.
  • Resource Allocation: Planning for human resources, materials, and equipment, and ensuring availability as needed.
  • Timeline Management: Developing detailed project schedules, ensuring that timelines are realistic and achievable, and regularly updating them to reflect progress.
  • Budget Management:
  • Cost Estimation: Creating accurate budgets for solar and BESS installations, including costs for equipment, labor, permits, and other project expenses.
  • Cost Control: Tracking expenses throughout the project lifecycle and ensuring that the project stays within budget. Identifying and mitigating potential cost overruns.
  • Financial Reporting: Providing regular financial updates to stakeholders and sponsors.
  • Stakeholder Management:
  • Communication: Serving as the primary point of contact between clients, engineers, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
  • Reporting: Keeping stakeholders informed on the project’s progress, risks, and issues, often through status reports and regular meetings.
  • Conflict Resolution: Managing expectations and resolving conflicts that may arise between stakeholders or within the project team.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Permitting:
  • Permitting: Overseeing the process of obtaining necessary permits and approvals from local authorities, utility companies, and regulatory bodies.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring that the project meets all local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental impact assessments, grid connection standards, safety requirements, and industry standards.
  • Design and Engineering Oversight:
  • Collaboration with Engineers: Working closely with design and engineering teams to ensure the technical aspects of the solar or BESS system align with project requirements and meet efficiency, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Customization: Ensuring that the system design is tailored to the specific needs of the site, including optimizing energy production, storage, and integration with the grid.
  • Risk Assessment: Identifying potential design or technical risks and ensuring that they are mitigated through proactive planning and engineering solutions.
  • Procurement and Vendor Management:
  • Supplier Selection: Overseeing the procurement of equipment (solar panels, inverters, batteries, etc.), materials, and services from vendors and contractors.
  • Contract Negotiations: Ensuring that contracts are clear, detailed, and favorable to the project, covering costs, timelines, deliverables, and performance guarantees.
  • Vendor Coordination: Managing relationships with suppliers, ensuring timely delivery of materials, and monitoring vendor performance throughout the project.
  • Construction Oversight:
  • Site Preparation: Ensuring the construction site is properly prepared, including grading, electrical work, and utility connections for solar arrays and BESS.
  • Construction Supervision: Overseeing the physical construction of the solar farm or BESS facility, ensuring that the work is done according to plans, specifications, and safety protocols.
  • Quality Control: Ensuring that the installation meets the highest standards in terms of workmanship and technical quality.
  • Health, Safety, and Environmental Management:
  • Safety Compliance: Ensuring that safety procedures and protocols are followed on-site, including proper training for workers, PPE requirements, and adherence to OSHA or local safety regulations.
  • Environmental Compliance: Overseeing environmental assessments and ensuring that the project minimizes its impact on the surrounding environment.
  • Commissioning and Testing:
  • System Testing: Leading the commissioning process, including performance testing of the solar arrays and battery storage systems to ensure they meet design specifications and operational requirements.
  • Grid Integration: Ensuring that the solar power and BESS system is properly connected to the grid or distributed to the end-user, and that all utility requirements are met.
  • Troubleshooting: Managing the identification and resolution of any issues that arise during commissioning.
  • Operations and Maintenance (O&M):
  • Post-Construction Handover: Ensuring smooth transition from construction to operation, including the training of operational staff and handing over the system with all required documentation.
  • Ongoing Monitoring: Overseeing the monitoring of system performance and managing any corrective maintenance required after commissioning.
  • Maintenance Scheduling: If applicable, planning for ongoing maintenance of the solar or BESS system, including periodic inspections, updates, and repairs.
  • Risk Management:
  • Risk Identification: Continuously identifying risks throughout the project lifecycle, from technical risks to schedule delays or financial overruns.
  • Mitigation Plans: Developing risk mitigation strategies, including contingency plans for unforeseen challenges.
  • Issue Resolution: Proactively managing project issues and making decisions to resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Project Closeout:
  • Final Documentation: Ensuring that all final project documents, including as-built drawings, warranties, contracts, and regulatory compliance certificates, are completed and handed over to the client.
  • Project Review: Conducting a post-project review to assess performance against initial goals, identify lessons learned, and assess client satisfaction.
  • Financial Closeout: Ensuring that all invoices are settled, final payments are made, and that the project’s financials are fully closed.
