The Lab is a pilot production facility that allows beverage creators to test scalability and obtain samples before moving to a full-scale commercial production. The Lab provides consultation services, logistical support, and quality testing needed to bring entrepreneurs’ visions to life.


Position Overview:

As the Lab Technologist, you will perform day-to-day analytical and microbiological analysis of beer and other beverages. This position will also perform duties related to data management, sensory testing, and production support. This position is chemistry-focused but works across scientific disciplines as needed.


Principle Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collects, processes, analyzes, and reports beverage sample data related to the identity, content, and stability of samples in a manner that meets internal and customer-desired needs and turnaround times while ensuring the quality and accuracy of the results
  • Operates, calibrates, troubleshoots, and maintains laboratory equipment
  • Maintains QC databases including but not limited to data entry, record-keeping, and data analysis
  • Conducts beverage production QC
  • Assists with testing request submission, sample preparation, sample delivery, and data entry for third-party testing providers
  • Sets up sensory panels
  • Assists with beverage pilot facility functions and support as needed
  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment, including the general cleanliness of the lab
  • Prepares media
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, food science, or biology
  • Familiar with standard laboratory instrumentation and techniques: pipettor, pH meter, centrifuge, autoclave, light microscope, sterile technique, etc.
  • Familiar with more specialized lab techniques, such as spectroscopy, titrations, standardization of equipment, spectroscopy, gas chromatography, and development of methodologies is a plus
  • Energetic and enthusiastic with a willingness to learn and grow within the company
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Competent using MS Office Suite
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to set a daily schedule that allows for timely completion of tasks
  • Team player willing to support group efforts
  • Experience in an R&D/QA/QC lab
  • Experience in a food or beverage lab, a plus
