Join our team at Buildup STEAM, a nonprofit committed to transforming the lives of children in adversity through LEGO robotics. As a LEGO Robotics Educator, termed Buildup Educator, you will oversee the execution of recreational and educational projects directly engaging with patients. Your role involves managing, executing, and ensuring the completion of STEAM-based initiatives using LEGO materials, fostering creativity and positivity in hospitalized children. Collaborating closely with the Child Life department, you'll deliver bedside LEGO robotics sessions, encouraging positive interactions and adhering to hospital sanitation standards. Essential Job Duties:

• Work directly with patients, families, and staff to provide direction, support and educational knowledge that enhance the patient experience.
• Deliver interactive activities to the patients in a fun and engaging manner.
• Ensure that patients are using materials safely and in the intended manner.
• Ensure that all equipment is disinfected and cleaned properly.
• Acquire knowledge of our company and programs.
• Represent Buildup STEAM both on and off-site.
• Provide activities to as many patients as possible.
• Interact with patients, families and staff in a friendly manner.
• Maintain the quality of the cart, kits and all materials.

Shift:  

• 20 hours per week at $22 an hour

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree (in progress). Degree must be from an accredited institution and will be verified.
• Knowledge of LEGO building system
• Knowledge of IOS based devices
• Experience working with children ages 2-18

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1 year experience working or volunteering in a hospital setting with patients and families

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to walk for extended periods of time
• Ability to bend over
• Ability to lift at least 30 pounds
• Health and drug screening
• Covid-19 and current flu vaccines are required.
