REQUIREMENTS

*Complete necessary trainings and certifications prior to employment and keep them current (CPR, Food Handler's Card, and additional online classes to comply with the Oregon Department of Education Early Learning Division requirements)


JOB DUTIES

*Sign in and out daily on the time sheet in the staff room and work with assigned teacher.

*Duties for the day include such chores as pencil sharpening, restocking paper supplies, maintaining art supplies and the painting easel, collecting the snack tray, and returning the dirty dishes to the kitchen.

*The assistant also shares playground duty daily with her teacher.

*Throughout the day, the assistant is discreetly conscientious about general classroom maintenance, cleaning, dusting and straightening materials on shelves, as needed.

*At the end of the day the assistant helps clean, vacuum and sanitize the classroom.

*Each teacher and assistant work out preferable patterns for their classroom and develop a close bond and mutual pride in 'their' children.

*As with all staff members, the Assistant is professional and discreet with parents, warmly greeting but never engaging them in lengthy conversations. This is to help facilitate a quick drop-off/pick-up with the many children and families that are dropping off at one time. It is important to be quiet and respectful of the children's learning environment.

*Safety of the children is always of the utmost importance.


HOURS

8:00am - 3:45pm

There is a ten-minute break and a thirty-minute, duty-free, unpaid lunch break daily.


PAY

$16/hour
