Director – Insurance, Safety and Risk Troy, MIHighlights: Nearly 75 years of industry leadership, offering innovative solutions in a dynamic marketEnhance risk management operations for an organization with 9,500 employees Hybrid role Responsibilities: Manages the identification, evaluation, mitigation, and monitoring of the company's operational and strategic risksDevelop, implement and maintain safety and environmental programs, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practicesWhat you will do:Develops tools, practices, and policies to analyze and report enterprise risks, and to manage risks according to an enterprise risk management frameworkEnsures the organization's risk management policies and strategies are in compliance with applicable regulations and rating agency standardsManages the design, placement, and administration of the property, liability, workers’ compensation, surety, cyber, directors & officers, fiduciary, crime and employment practices liability insurance programsResponsible for the negotiation and settlement of all insurance claimsSelect and manage insurance broker relationshipsSelect and manage third party claims administrators and other risk management experts and consultantsSets vendor insurance requirementsProvide required claims and loss reserve data as well as insurance budget projectionsKeep apprised of new developments in risk management and changes in the risk and insurance marketplaceDevelop, implement and maintain safety and environmental programs, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practicesProvide expertise and guidance on safety-related issues to management, employees, and outside vendors/consultantsResponsible for, and at times creates and leads employee training to promote safe work behaviors and environmental complianceCoordinate incident investigations, reporting and follow up providing recommendations for continuous improvementCoordinates the industrial hygiene monitoring for noise, air, vapor, etc.Obtains, maintains and ensures compliance with environmental approvals, permits, plans and reportingOversee site-specific safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actionsAssist with developing and implementation of facility security policies and proceduresCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure ongoing alignment and coordination of safety-related initiativesUnderstands all safety and environmental hazards of chemicals and raw materials that are handled and stored at the company’s facilitiesWhat you will need:Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental science or related fieldMinimum of 10 years of insurance placement experienceMinimum of 5 years of experience in a safety related role in manufacturing or industrial environmentsExtensive knowledge of OSHA regulations, NFPA, DOT, applicable ANSI standards and industry best practices related to safety in a manufacturing environmentFamiliar with EPA, RCRA and other environmental standards related to manufacturingCertification in safety and environmental-related fields such as CSP, ASP or CHMM a plusStrong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and motivate othersMust be able to travel up to 25% of the time annually and international as needed
