Shipbreaking Specialist for Barges wanted in St. Louis, MO
Description
The Company is a world leader in the metals recycling and processing industry, is actively seeking a diligent, reliable and talented individual to join our team as a Dismantling Laborer. As a Dismantling Laborer you will be responsible for safely and efficiently dismantling barges, river boats, and other marine equipment for scrapping.
This position will work outside in varying weather conditions, and The Company strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. Working hours are from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday and from 8:00 am to noon on Saturdays.

Responsibilities of a Dismantling Laborer
- Perform demolishing and dismantling tasks according to project plans and specifications.
- Prepare barges and river boats by demolishing interiors and removing fixtures, furnishing, and other non-structural components.
- Safely identify and remove debris and other non-recyclable materials from the worksite.
- Identify, sort, and remove recyclable materials such as aluminum, copper, brass, etc. from the worksite.
- Mark, rig, and cut structural components for removal using torches, shears, or other tools.
- Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
- Perform daily inspections on equipment and vessels and report all unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
- Maintain a clean and orderly working environment.
- Provide backup or assistance throughout the yard as needed or assigned.
- Comply with all applicable federal, state, local, & Company safety, health, & environmental rules, regulations, policies, & procedures.
Qualifications of a Dismantling Laborer
- High School diploma, GED Certification, or equivalent work experience.
- 1-year previous barge or river vessel experience preferred.
- Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) a plus.
- Ability to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
- Ability to learn new tasks as assigned required.
