Position Summary:


We are looking for a (Senior) Systems Engineer to help us define and build high-definition maps and software supporting advanced driver assistance, semi-autonomous and autonomous driving applications.


Main Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Collect, manage and maintain traceability between customer and internal specifications
  • Prioritize road systems and map features across customers, data availability, internal goals, and several conflicting inputs
  • Generate and disseminate formal definitions for all map features
  • Work with cross-functional teams to maintain deadlines for map production and ensure quality assurance across the map features
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop success criteria for all map features
  • Work in team to develop testing procedures for automated validation of map building efforts
  • Mentoring coworkers on best practices and requirement gathering
  • Presenting results to both internal and external customers
  • Work with internal teams to perform trade studies to evaluate new methods and technologies to improve efficiency while maintaining requirement compliance and quality targets
  • Develop validation methods for new content and new technologies
  • Capable of performing validation activities as required


Skills, Qualifications, and Competencies:

  • Minimum education of bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or related technical field
  • At least 5 years of experience in automotive or equivalent industries
  • A minimum of 3+ years of work experience working as a Systems Engineer or similar role
  • Extensive experience writing and maintaining system and or software requirements
  • Knowledge of technologies utilizing digital photography, LiDAR, radar, ultrasonic sensors, GPS/IMU sensors, geo-referencing data for use in maps
  • Understanding of geo-spatial survey technologies and can think spatially
  • Keen analytical and problem-solving skills. • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Experience with automotive sensors (LiDAR, Camera, GPS, Radar), autonomous driving, active safety or driver assist features
  • Experience developing and deploying automotive driver assist/active safety features
  • Experience with requirements management tools and processes (DOORS, Polarion etc.)
  • Strong experience in the Verification and Validation of requirements
  • Ability to achieve results with minimal direction and limited oversight
  • Experience with GIS, CAD and remote sensing software packages, as well as knowledge of GPS analysis software desired • Software skills (SQL, C++, Python) desired
  • Database and shared computing experience beneficial (PostgreSQL, AWS)
  • Working knowledge of DFMEA beneficial
  • LEAN, Six Sigma, DFSS beneficial
  • Experience working on Department of Transportation or other government projects


Work Environment:


  • Works in a fast paced office environment with multiple priorities and competing demands; potential set-backs in project completion due to internal or external issues, resourcing and re-allocation
  • Regular office hours with some requirements for additional work during busy times
  • May work for long periods reviewing data on computer
  • Occasional travel


Assets:


  • Experience with GIS, CAD and remote sensing software packages, as well as knowledge of GPS analysis software
  • Experience developing and deploying automotive driver assist/active safety features
  • Experience with Camera, LiDAR technologies
  • Software skills (SQL, C++, Python)
