About the Position

The Legal Counsel performs a range of duties including evaluating all current and new compliance regulations to ensure compliance with the Illinois Department on Aging, reviewing company processes across departments, evaluating contracts with Managed Care Organizations. This position reports to the Chief Compliance Officer.


Responsibilities

  • Contract Drafting and Review: Draft, review, and negotiate various contracts, including transportation agreements, vendor contracts, and other legal documents to protect the company's interests
  • Risk Assessment: Identify legal risks associated with our business operations and develop strategies to mitigate these risks
  • Dispute Resolution: Handle legal disputes and litigation matters, working with Chief Compliance Officer when necessary, to protect the company's interests and resolve issues efficiently
  • Compliance Training: Develop and conduct training programs for employees to ensure awareness and compliance with relevant legal requirements
  • General Legal Support: Provide legal advice and support on a wide range of legal issues as they arise in the course of business operations
  • Perform periodic audits on company procedures and processes.
  • Follow all IDoA and AUAF policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in law, business administration, or a related field
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a compliance officer, Legal Counsel, or similar position.
  • Strong knowledge of industry processes and regulations.
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Pass state required background checks
