Title of Position: Medical Assistant


Position Summary:


The Medical Assistant is responsible for supporting healthcare providers by performing a variety of clinical and administrative tasks. This role involves direct patient care, assisting with medical procedures, and managing administrative duties to ensure efficient operation of the medical office.



1. Clinical Duties:


  • Prepare patients for examination by taking vital signs, medical histories, and explaining procedures.
  • Assist physicians during examinations and medical procedures.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, perform basic lab tests, and dispose of contaminated supplies.
  • Administer medications and injections as directed by a physician.
  • Perform EKGs, wound care, and other routine procedures.
  • Sterilize medical instruments and ensure exam rooms are clean and well-stocked.


2. Patient Interaction:


  • Greet patients and ensure they are comfortable and informed about their visit.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments.
  • Answer patient inquiries and provide information about medical procedures and treatments.
  • Educate patients about medication, special diets, and medical conditions.


3. Administrative Duties:


  • Maintain and update patient records with accurate and complete information.
  • Handle General Consent, ID and Insurance cards upload in patient's chart.
  • Manage phone calls, emails, and correspondence.
  • Order medical supplies and maintain inventory.


4. Compliance and Safety:


  • Follow established protocols for infection control and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Assist in emergency situations as needed. Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a certified medical assistant program is preferred.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is an asset.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and healthcare practices. x Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical software.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to patient care.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
