Position Summary:


On behalf of our client, we are looking for an experienced Ocean Specialist to join their expanding team in New Jersey. In this essential role, you will manage international ocean shipments, ensuring timely and efficient deliveries across key trade lanes for our clients' most important accounts.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Build strong client relationships and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Oversee ocean import/export operations from origin to final destination.
  • Prepare and process import/export documentation accurately and efficiently.
  • Coordinate with customs authorities for timely clearance of shipments.
  • Arrange ocean transportation, selecting the most suitable mode based on factors such as cost, transit time, and cargo requirements.
  • Negotiate competitive freight rates with carriers to ensure profitability.
  • Identify and resolve shipping issues proactively to minimize disruptions.
  • Prepare and analyze comprehensive performance reports to identify areas for improvement.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or related field.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in freight forwarding, with a strong focus on ocean import/export operations.
  • Strong understanding of ocean import/export regulations, customs procedures, and international trade compliance.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with transportation management systems (TMS) and customs clearance software (e.g., CargoWise, AS400, SAP) is a plus.
