Job Title: Personal Injury Paralegal

Duration: 4 months

Location: Chicago, Illinois

Our law firm is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Personal Injury Paralegal to join our dynamic team in Chicago. The candidate will have a strong knowledge of personal injury procedures and be capable of managing and prioritizing various assignments.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage personal injury cases from initial intake through trial or settlement.
  2. Assist with drafting pleadings, discovery responses, demands and other legal documents.
  3. Organize and maintain case files and update case management system as applicable.
  4. Schedule depositions, court hearings, meetings with clients, and other appointments.
  5. Coordinate with medical providers to retrieve medical records and bills.
  6. Calculate damages including medical expenses, lost wages and property damage.
  7. Maintain regular contact with clients and provide case status updates.
  8. Assist attorneys in preparing for trials and court proceedings.
  9. Perform legal research and draft legal memoranda when needed.
  10. Adhere to all legal standards and procedures.

Requirements:

  1. Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies preferred; Bachelor's Degree in a related field of study a plus.
  2. 2-5 years of experience as a paralegal in personal injury law.
  3. Strong knowledge of federal and state court procedures and rules.
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research platforms (LexisNexis, Westlaw).
  5. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  6. Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  7. Ability to work independently, manage large workloads, and keep deadlines.
  8. Certified Paralegal (CP) or Certified Legal Assistant (CLA) preferred.
