Location: Remote / Hybrid (Johnston Rhode island)

GCP Architect Job Description

We are seeking an experienced GCP Architect to take charge of the Implementation, maintenance and management of our client’s cloud computing strategy. The primary responsibility of this role will be building and overseeing cloud systems, including servers, storage, and network infrastructure. The GCP Architect will collaborate closely with IT teams across the organization to enhance and optimize our cloud infrastructure performance. Duties and responsibilities

  • Create a well-informed cloud strategy and maintain the adaptation process
  • Evaluate cloud applications, hardware, and software
  • Identify the best cloud architecture solutions to meet the company’s needs and business requirements
  • Lead the adoption of new cloud technologies and establish best practices for them
  • Design cloud environments with a focus on GCP aligned with Azure and AWS as part of client Multi cloud strategy
  • Design cloud infrastructures running in 24/7 environments
  • Design and implement IaaS and PaaS solutions including well architect GCP Landing zone as part of Multi cloud strategy
  • Plan, design, and deploy complex application workloads on the Google Cloud platform
  • Develop enterprise cloud guidelines and automations
  • Oversee the organization’s cloud computing strategy, including adoption plans, management, and monitoring
  • Oversee all aspects of the GCP environment, including provisioning, scaling, monitoring, and security
  • Develop and organize cloud systems
  • Implement systems, solutions, and processes to manage cloud costs, scalability, redundancy, and continuous validation
  • Manage and monitor cloud-based applications and services
  • Collaborate with IT security to monitor cloud privacy
  • Collaborate with architecture, DevOps, data, and integration teams to ensure best practices are followed throughout cloud adoption
  • Respond to technical issues
  • Provide thought leadership related to GCP and cloud infrastructure
  • Serve as a technical advisor for customers with complex cloud infrastructure and networking challenges
  • Provide hands-on leadership for cloud migration and adoption from inception to production
  • Develop enterprise cloud guidelines and automation in compliance with business needs and security best practices
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to implementation teams responsible for delivering and deploying designed architecture

Skill and Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in an IT role
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud architecture, Solutions or systems engineering
  • Experience leading large-scale GCP env set up including Landing zone wrt to Multi cloud strategy
  • Experience with identity management and networking segmentation across multiple VPC networks and projects
  • Experience leading large-scale network migrations to GCP
  • Experience establishing technical strategy and architecture at the enterprise level
  • Experience with one or more third-party networking products
  • Experience leading GCP Cloud project delivery
  • Experience working with infrastructure as code tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Terraform
  • Expertise in GCP services
  • Knowledge of security, identity, and access management
  • Knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP and HTTP/S
  • Knowledge of network security design including segmentation, encryption, logging, and monitoring
  • Knowledge of network topologies, load balancing, and segmentation
  • Knowledge of programming languages including Python, Ruby, and JavaScript
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies like API Management, Identity Management, and/or VMware
  • Strong communication, presentation, and leadership skills
  • Experience establishing enterprise-level technical strategy and architecture
  • Experience with scalable networking design, including high availability, redundancy, fail-over, and load balancing
  • Experience with at least one third-party networking product
  • Expertise in Google Cloud Platform services such as Kubernetes Engine, Compute Engine, and/or Cloud Interconnect
  • Experience of OpenShift is must

Strong communication skills and ability to articulate technical concepts for a non-technical audience
