The Depot Manager is responsible for the oversight of day-to-day container yard operations, beginning with ensuring all safety protocols, procedures, and company standards are followed. Reporting directly to the Director of Depot Services, and working in coordination with other depot employees and onsite support teams, the primary goal is to support the transportation operational management and the outside customers we service.


Responsibilities

  1. Daily interaction, guidance, and communication with all Depot Yard Employees
  2. Daily interaction, and communication with assigned Operation’s teams
  3. Various administrative functions, billing, invoicing, estimating, time cards, reports, etc.
  4. Employee administrative functions
  5. Ensure work flow is being properly managed as directed by the Director of Depot Service
  6. Work in accordance with all applicable regulatory agency guidelines
  7. Prompt, daily attendance at assigned work location
  8. Keep facility safe and clean at all times
  9. Inspect equipment for safety, and prepare safety documentation as needed
  10. Ability to multitask and change directions/plans to suit the daily workload
  11. Ensure Customer contracts are being followed
  12. Check yard inventories and fix discrepancies
  13. Schedule and plan assignments and follow up on completed job orders
  14. Maintain Safety records and conduct weekly inspections
  15. Communicate with Depot Customers and Vendors
  16. Direct communication with customers on a regular basis


Qualifications

  1. Prior experience and/or knowledge of the Intermodal transportation industry, yard operations, and equipment is ideal and highly preferred, though not required if strong in other areas
  2. Firm understanding of inventory management
  3. Previous employee supervision and management experience
  4. Intermediate computer skills
  5. Strong Communication and Organizational skills
  6. Ability to work in and thrive in a fast paced environment
  7. Flexible in working various shifts, days, etc. if needed
  8. Safely walk & stand for extended periods of time on various surfaces that may be uneven or slippery (including working outdoors in inclement weather)
  9. Lift objects of various shapes, sizes and weight
  10. Safely reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat & kneel as necessary to perform various job duties throughout the day
