We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Construction Superintendent to oversee and manage all aspects of construction activities on Nellis Air Force Base (AFB). This role requires a hands-on leader who will coordinate daily operations, ensure project milestones are met, and maintain safety and quality standards for all construction projects within the base. The Construction Superintendent will work closely with project managers, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure the project is completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with military regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Supervision and Leadership:
  • Oversee all daily construction activities on-site, ensuring the timely and efficient execution of tasks.
  • Manage and direct the work of subcontractors and laborers to meet project goals.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the client, contractor, and subcontractors regarding project updates and issues.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations, military protocols, and environmental policies.
  • Monitor safety performance on-site and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
  • Quality Control:
  • Ensure that construction work meets or exceeds industry standards and is compliant with Nellis AFB-specific guidelines.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify issues, defects, and deviations from plans.
  • Review and approve work completed by subcontractors to verify quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Project Planning and Coordination:
  • Collaborate with project managers to develop schedules, budgets, and work plans.
  • Coordinate with Nellis AFB personnel and external vendors to secure necessary materials and equipment.
  • Resolve any delays or obstacles that could impact the project schedule or quality.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of daily activities, material deliveries, inspections, and safety compliance.
  • Provide regular progress reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure all required documentation is submitted in a timely manner and in accordance with military and company policies.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Foster a collaborative work environment with other departments, including project management, design, and engineering teams.
  • Communicate effectively with Nellis AFB representatives to ensure compliance with base-specific regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction management, with at least 2 years as a superintendent on military or government projects.
  • Previous experience working on or around military installations or government contracts is highly desirable.
  • Certifications & Skills:
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification (or equivalent) required.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, blueprints, and contracts.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in using construction management software and tools (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, MS Project).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance for work on Nellis AFB (if applicable).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including outdoor weather conditions (heat, rain, etc.).
  • Ability to lift and move construction materials (up to 50 lbs).
  • Ability to walk, climb, and stand for extended periods.

Additional Information:

This position will be based on Nellis Air Force Base, NV. Candidates must be able to pass a background check and may need to obtain a security clearance for access to certain areas of the base.
