About Box United:

Box United exists to bring equitable access to transformative physical and mental wellness programming to every Chicago girl. We are the only nonprofit organization that uses the sport of boxing to transform how girls see themselves and what they think is possible in their lives. We do this through our research-backed after school boxing program, Fight Like a Girl. Fight Like a Girl was designed to help girls build powerful punches and a positive relationship with the voice inside their head. The program teaches students how to train as boxers while also mastering skills in positive body image, leadership, and social media literacy. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Individual Mentorship and Instruction: Conduct weekly mental health sessions for small groups of students based on the Box United curriculum.Develop personalized plans and monitor progress, ensuring each participant achieves their goals.
  • Capstone Project Facilitation: Lead and manage a capstone group project involving all assigned participants. Facilitate weekly group meetings to plan and execute capstone projects, fostering teamwork and collaboration.
  • Planning and Preparation: Dedicate five hours per week to planning and preparing lesson plans, capstone project activities, and individual follow-up sessions. Tailor activities to meet the specific needs and interests of each participant.
  • Program Coordination and Reporting: Meet with the Program Manager weekly to discuss progress, challenges, and upcoming activities.Maintain accurate records of participant progress, attendance, and program outcomes.
  • Follow-Up and Support: Provide ongoing support and mentorship to participants, addressing any personal or emotional challenges they may face. Conduct follow-up sessions to ensure sustained progress and engagement.


Job Requirements:

  • Masters in Social Work or Counseling
  • Experience working with youth of color, LGBTQIA+ youth, and youth living at or below the poverty line.
  • Youth Development experience is strongly preferred.
  • Reliable transportation for site visits.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build trust and rapport with youth from diverse backgrounds.
