The Swift Group is looking for a Network Engineer to work as part of a collaborative, multidiscipline team in support of our client and provide technical subject matter expertise in the field of network engineering. In this role the engineer will be responsible to repair network issues as needed, perform routine to moderately complex network upgrades with limited guidance. This position is located in Herndon, VA.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Navigate and configure Linux operating systems.
  • Review user requests for upgrades or additions to the network to assess impact on network performance and provide advice and guidance on the most practical technical approach to meeting user requirements.
  • Plan upgrades to existing network configurations, using knowledge of the performance characteristics of the systems being upgraded and the specifications for network interfaces to insure effective integration and optimal network performance.
  • Deploy and maintain network systems.
  • Perform network engineering on specific sensitive client systems.
  • Support the clients representatives in cloud environments purchase, engineering, and architecture related activities as applicable to applications and database
  • Manage enhancements and improvements to current data systems technology and processes, including data access authorizations against enterprise approved user attributes and solutions
  • Provide operations and maintenance of databases in the cloud infrastructure


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated experience with Linux and Cloud Server Management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing cloud infrastructure through cloud-native scripting languages
  • Demonstrated experience with AWS
  • Must have deep knowledge of Firewalls
  • Must have knowledge of VPN technologies, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, IP Multicasting and remote administration and secure Virtual Private Networking (VPN)
  • Must understand commercial encryption standards and their application in IP networking
  • Must have knowledge of wireless fidelity (WIFI) IEEE standards: 802.11 a/b/g/n and how to apply them to a network architecture
  • Relevant experience designing communication systems
  • Ability to work independently and in small or large groups
  • On premise local area networks (LAN) and cloud platforms (software defined networking/SDN) experience
  • Strong working knowledge of circuits management (LTE, Broadband, 100Gb, ethernet, etc) to include cellular SAT, ethernet, hardwire.
  • Scripting experience with BASH
  • Ability to write SOPs (standard operating procedures)
  • HS Diploma
  • US Citizenship and an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance


Desired Qualifications:

  • Certifications Security+, Network+ Linux+ Linux Admin LFCS, Linux Engineer certification
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
