The Northern Pelagic Group, LLC, NORPEL, is a processing company of seafood and meats. We sell into the North American Pet food manufacturing market as well as an International Market for the seafood items harvested by its own vessel as well as other seafood items processed at our facilities in New Bedford, MA and Hazleton, PA

Requirements:

  • Perform upgrades to refrigerated warehouse space with the Maintenance/Engineering team as required for 5 cold store facilities.
  • Maintain existing warehousing & facilities in effective operating condition.
  • Monitoring Refrigeration system.
  • Monitor Defrosting units.
  • Complete routine checks daily on all systems, and report and record information.
  • Ability to troubleshoot systems, and repair leaks, or damages.
  • Coordinate project status with supervisor to prevent unplanned downtime.
  • Required to work on all mechanical equipment repairs and maintenance programs, including supporting the development of Waterfront’s PSM program and a PM program.
  • Attend calls on lines, working on planned and unplanned Maintenance work.
  • Complete Work Orders to include Annual, Monthly, Weekly, and Daily PM’s.
  • Support and manage Maintenance and Engineering projects as needed.
  • General building maintenance including light electrical.
  • Occasional repairs on material handling equipment such as forklifts.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

  • Refrigeration exp is a PLUS
  • Ammonia Exp. Is a PLUS
  • Operator 1-3 Cert is a PLUS
  • EPA 608,601
  • 2+ years mechanical and electrical experience maintaining forklifts and warehouse equipment or combination of experience and trade school.
  • Advanced understanding of general maintenance procedures and techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of hand and power tools such as drills, grinders, sanders in the set up and fitting for welding or in finishing of welds.
  • Physically capable of lifting as much as one hundred pounds and carrying 50 pounds.
  • Must demonstrate strong problem-solving ability.
  • Knowledge of electrical.
  • Effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be well- organized and have the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous experience in Cold Store.
  • Previous experience in facility/factory refrigeration areas is desired.
  • Must have a valid Driver's license and transportation.
  • Must be a US Resident.
