Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Probation Officer to join our company. As a Probation Officer, you will play a crucial role in supervising and assisting individuals who have been placed on probation, ensuring their successful completion of the program while upholding public safety. You will work closely with probationers, assess their progress, and provide support to help them complete their responsibilities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Case Management: Monitor a caseload of probationers, conducting regular meetings and assessments to gauge their compliance with their specific probationary terms.
  • Court Assistance: Assist the Court, and/or its representatives, whenever needed.
  • Probation Planning: Collaborate with probationers, judges, prosecutors etc. to develop individualized rehabilitation plans, setting clear goals and expectations for compliance.
  • Counseling and Support: Provide guidance, counseling, and referrals to probationers for necessary services, such as substance abuse treatment, mental health counseling, or job placement, anger management.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed records of probationer interactions, progress and compliance, and prepare reports for the court.
  • Community Engagement: Work with community organizations, social services, and law enforcement agencies to coordinate resources and support for probationers' successful completion.
  • Enforcement: Enforce probation conditions, including curfews and/or drug testing, and take appropriate action in cases of non-compliance.
  • Court Appearances: Appear in court to provide testimony and recommendations regarding probationers' progress and compliance during hearings and reviews.
  • Continual Learning: Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in probation and rehabilitation to enhance your skills and knowledge.


Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of criminal justice system procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathy and the ability to build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Ethical and unbiased judgment in decision-making.
  • Familiarity with relevant computer software and case management systems.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Valid Driver's License.


Working Conditions:

Probation Officers may work in a variety of settings, including offices, courts, correctional facilities, and in the community. The position may require occasional evening or weekend work.
