This is a role for an experienced civil estimator using HCSS heavybid. Projects include private sitework and residential sitework.


Responsibilities:

  1. Project Evaluation: Evaluate project plans, specifications, and requirements to understand project scope and identify key factors affecting costs.
  2. Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for civil engineering projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  3. Quantification: Quantify and estimate the quantities of materials, labor, and equipment required for each project phase.
  4. Bid Preparation: Prepare comprehensive bid proposals, ensuring that all costs are accounted for and competitive.
  5. Cost Analysis: Conduct cost analysis and value engineering to identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize project budgets.
  6. Vendor/Subcontractor Management: Obtain quotes and negotiate pricing with vendors and subcontractors to secure the best value for materials and services.
  7. Risk Assessment: Identify and assess potential risks and uncertainties that may impact project costs and timelines.
  8. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of cost estimates, bid proposals, and project documentation.
  9. Collaboration: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that cost estimates align with project objectives and requirements.
  10. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, construction methods, and material costs to improve estimating accuracy and efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Civil Estimator, preferably in civil engineering or construction projects.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, HeavyBid, HCSS) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Familiarity with project management principles and practices.
