Senior Scientist and Project Manager, Geology


We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Scientist and Project Manager to join a well-known, full-service environmental and safety consulting firm. This position will be responsible for project management of Geologic and Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) services and will report directly to the president.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical guidance to Geology staff regarding relevant regulations and Scope of Services outlining a project approach.
  • Have a good working knowledge of Ohio Voluntary Action Program regulations, Ohio Hazardous Waste regulations and ASTM ESA Practices.
  • Develop project budgets.
  • Prepare technical proposals and reports and review/edit technical proposals and reports prepared by assigned staff or by other staff as needed.
  • Provide coordination and management for assigned projects to ensure all tasks are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Maintain phone or e-mail communication with clients in regard to project activities, coordination and progress.
  • Assist with direct supervision of field staff (3-4).
  • Direct control over project budgets. The position has indirect control over other technicians as well as their own time in maintaining project budgets.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports.


Requirements:


  • Approximately 20 years experience; Masters Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science or related field is helpful.
  • 40-Hour OSHA Training required.
  • Valid Ohio Driver's License required, good driving record and, if requested, provide proof of Automobile Liability Insurance that meets Company requirements for a privately owned vehicle.
  • Certified Professional under Ohio’s Voluntary Action Program or ability to become a Certified Professional.
  • Experienced in performing assessment and remedial projects of environmental
  • media including soil, groundwater, soil gas and indoor air.
  • Working knowledge and understanding, as well as experience with environmental regulations including, but not limited to, Ohio’s Voluntary Action Program, Resource Conservation Recovery Act, Toxic Substances Control Act and Bureau of Underground Storage Tank Regulations.
  • Strong field background desirable.
  • Project management experience from project conception to completion with the ability to manage multiple projects at a given time.
  • Supervisory experience with the ability to assist staff as needed.
  • Strong internal and external communication skills.
