The HSE Specialist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining our health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and compliance with regulatory requirements both with blue sky work and storm work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Implement HSE Policies: Assist the department director with creating and maintaining HSE policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures.
- Training and Awareness: Design and deliver training programs to promote safety awareness and compliance among employees and contractors.
- Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into incidents, accidents, and near-misses, providing comprehensive reports and recommendations for improvement.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on relevant regulations and standards, ensuring company practices align with legal requirements.
- Performance Monitoring: Track and analyze HSE performance metrics, preparing reports for management to drive continuous improvement.
- Emergency Response Planning: Develop and maintain emergency response plans, conducting drills and training sessions to ensure preparedness.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, field staff, and administrative personnel to foster a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
- Budget Management: Assist in the development and management of the HSE budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Travel to Storm: Manage transmission and distribution line crews while on storm to different parts of the country as needed (storm pay will apply)
Qualifications and Skills
- High degree of professionalism always—positively representing SLG’s brand
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
- Minimum 3 years of HSE experience in the Transmission and Distribution field
- ISNetworld and Avetta management experience preferred
- DOT management knowledge a plus, but not required
