Head of Data - Houston, TX or US RemoteA Series B funded startup who are building the infrastructure that powers how residential HVAC systems are monitored, maintained, and serviced are looking for a Head of Data to join their team.What will I be doing:Lead the architecture and execution of a modern data platform to support real-time telemetry, historical analysis, AI training, and operational reportingDefine the strategy for data transformation, warehousing, governance, and access across the companyPartner closely with AI/ML teams to ensure high-quality data pipelines for model development and inference (batch and real-time)Collaborate with software engineering, product, and operations to embed data visibility and intelligence into user-facing and internal productsDrive best practices around data quality, lineage, privacy, and access controlEvaluate and implement tools and technologies that support data scalability, observability, and developer velocityBuild and lead a growing team of data engineers, data scientists, and analytics professionalsPromote clear communication, technical rigor, and fast iteration across engineering and cross-functional teamsWhat are we looking for?8+ years of experience working with data systems, with at least 2–3 years leading a team or owning a platform at a high-growth companyDeep understanding of modern data architecture patterns (e.g., event-driven ingestion, stream/batch processing, lakehouse/hybrid models)Hands-on experience with cloud-native data infrastructure (e.g., Redshift, Athena, S3, Airflow, Spark, Kafka/Kinesis, dbt)Strong collaboration skills, with experience aligning data architecture to the needs of ML, software, and business stakeholdersTrack record of supporting ML teams with clean, labeled, and well-structured data pipelinesExcellent communicator with the ability to balance technical depth and business contextPassionate about enabling a culture of data excellence and working in an environment where data directly impacts the physical worldWhat's in it for me:Competitive salary range of $250k - $350k based on experience and locationLeadership role at the center of our transformation into an AI-native, data-driven companyRare opportunity to shape the data backbone of a company building sensor-enabled intelligence at a national scaleBuild and lead a growing team of data engineers, data scientists, and analytics professionalsApply now for immediate consideration
