ABOUT OUR CLIENT:

Our client is a reputable consumer products company in the Bay Area who is in search of an Operations Finance Consultant for a six month interim engagement. The Operations Finance Consultant will forecast and analyze financial results, monitor variances, identify trends and process efficiencies, and recommend actions to all management levels. As an integral part of the Finance Team, the ideal candidate must have cost accounting and financial reporting experience and be a collaborative team player working with international teams.


This role is a hybrid position and will require on site work Monday through Wednesday on the West side of Los Angeles.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute annual budgets and quarterly forecasts, emphasizing business drivers, key financial and operational metrics, and sensitivity analysis.
  • Create monthly financial reports, quarterly forecasts, and annual budgets in collaboration with Corporate FP&A.
  • Collaborate with plant finance and operations teams to maintain budgets/standard costs, revise cost estimates, and track actuals for the supply chain, including, Raw material procurement, commodities, production overhead, logistics
  • Manage timelines and facilitate communication of crucial financial data points to ensure timely delivery of thorough business plans.
  • Guide direct reports on analyst tasks, such as preparing monthly close and journal entries, generating monthly departmental financials with variance explanations, forecasting, budgeting, and evaluating key business metrics.
  • Work with the Operations team to monitor budget compliance and support sound financial decision-making.
  • Maintain internal transfer prices.
  • Develop pro-forma financials for potential new products.
  • Condense large amounts of financial data and analytical results into a clear, easy-to-understand narrative with straightforward conclusions and implications.
  • Use Oracle to develop value-added reporting tools.
  • Understand the financial operations of the business and educate others within and outside the Finance team about their area's financial performance.
  • Focus on key performance indicators and continuous process improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Accounting on the annual audit.
  • Work closely with the Operations team to understand material pricing trends, production costs, and logistics expenses, both past and future.
  • Stay informed about current corporate and operational initiatives.
  • Regularly review and suggest improvements for business processes and procedures to enhance their efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Plan, review, and analyze all capital expenditure projects and budget adherence.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5-10 years of experience in FP&A, preferably within a consumer products company.
  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in Finance, Accounting or Economics related field required.
  • Experience developing and managing financial reporting for operations, cost of goods, and capital projects.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP standards and procedures.
  • Self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of articulating financial concepts across various functions and levels.
  • In-depth understanding of the hardware business model and key profitability drivers.
  • Advanced quantitative and analytical skills.
